Sombrero Coneflower Collection of Rainbow Cone Colors
Rose and I are very fond of Coneflowers, they are the stalwarts of the Midwest prairie, and I love to photograph them just as they are. Aside from the purple prairie we brought from our previous home, we picked up several varieties from Leo's this spring including a new hybrid called Sombrero, that when in full bloom, the colors look like sherbet Rainbow Cones. Just like the ones from the Original Rainbow Cone store on 92nd & Western in Chicago close to where we're from.
I'm a photorealist in my work - have been for 50+ years . I take my photographs just as nature presents itself to me - no saturation, color adjustments or sparkly bits with AI influenced apps in Lightroom or on my smartphone. The pre-dusk light was perfect to show these beauties how they look in the waning summer months before the goldfinches pull out and spread the long pointy seeds, that'll fill in the side and back of our house in the coming years.
